In case you missed it, We’ve been talking about the Salesmsg business texting platform. This link will give you a free account .  But before you click, here’s some “do’s and don’ts” of business texting that’ll make you money (or improve whatever result matters to you). Here’s what you should be doing.

Here’s what you should be doing.

  • DO : Text enable the telephone phone number listed on your homepage and put a “Call or Text” button on it. This will enable them to automatically send you a text message, giving you legal permission to text them back.

  • DO : Add SMS to your sales and marketing automations to confirm and remind appointments. In my last email I mentioned how Dan Martell increased revenue by $90K doing exactly this.

  • DO : Offer a “Chat By SMS” option (Intercom, Drift, Chatflows) and “Follow Up By SMS” to support points (Zendesk, Helpscout, Contact Us Page). You’ll be surprised how happy this makes people and how many more positive reviews you'll get.

  • DO : If you run webinars, add “Send Me A Text Reminder” to your signup form. Do this and watch your attendance and sales skyrocket.

  • DO : Automate an SMS to send a few hours after a new customer buys from you. Make it short and sweet like “Hey, saw you’re a new customer. Everything going okay?”

  • DO : Add texting to your existing landline. Customers and leads are texting your landline number. You just don’t realize it, because you haven’t enabled text your landline. Don’t miss these valuable opportunities to connect, support, or close more sales.

And here’s a list of important things to avoid.

  • DON’T : Buy a list of telephone numbers and import them into a mass SMS broadcast platform. This is one of the riskiest and least rewarding ways to use SMS, and could earn you fines or a banned number.

  • DON’T : Don’t write long text messages. SMS is not email. Think about the type of texts you reply to. They are short, sweet, conversational, and to the point.

  • DON’T : Broadcast your entire list of leads or customers the same message or offer. Create broadcasts with targeted messages that your contacts want to hear.

  • DON’T : Avoid using your personal cell number. Protect your peace of mind. Plus you can’t assign conversations to team members if you’re not using a team inbox.

  • DON’T : Import contacts then send a “can I text you” SMS asking for permission. If you have to ask for permission this way, you don’t have it. Create compelling reasons for contacts to engage you first.

By following the above do’s and don’ts, you’ll see the results you’re looking for while making SMS safe for your business. Now that you’ve read this, go
